God, no more! Don't care about no score, Don't bring me down again, you've got a friend But don't know what to do Nothing's certain But as I draw the curtains I find myself alone, but goin' home Don't mean the same to you Don't assume you've been Nothin' but a tune Inside my mind, I've come to find That it's been raining too In the streetlight, She put up a good fight, Crashing, slashing, Cashing in on everything you know As I watch you Tryin' to tie your shoes I feel a cognizance An innocence I know I got from you I struck the sea dry, Red was fillin' your sky You turned your gaze on this ugly face And never asked it why

Cocayne Jayne, she took my money She took my acid and she took my clothes She got her name from ridin' beaches And pickin' fools on an L.A. roll She brought a toothless cat to the table Drowned my garden in a sea of gin Left me wild, seasick, and lazy And asked me if I'd ever love her again And when the stars come out of the sky, She sits for hours on an alibi Little wolf, you sucked on his fingers And built a castle for his ankles and toes You bought a ticket for the ride of the season And sat alone while your mind struck a pose I asked you once under the table If you loved me like you ever loved him In keener eyes I've seen deception But didn't let it get to me when he walked in Fear took hold and they cut out the lights And the preacher asked me if I wanted to fight Cocayne Jayne, she burned my house down I tried to find quiet where the river flows If I ain't home by half past seven, Break all my dishes and burn all my clothes Don't look for me in the morning Don't look for me in the night And if she ever comes lookin' for me, Tell her I left on the Dutch Delight Smoke filled my cabin as I lay asleep And they never did pull my head from the deep

I don't wanna see you blind Find her down by the riverside Time gonna turn me away Lines to brighten up your day Run, run, til the snow is at your door Run on by the river, by the river shore Roll, to the edge in day by day They told you one time, it had to be this way Turn, turn, and rise to water home Burned out and rusted, he'll be on his own Cry for the damned upon the seas Cry for the boy lost in the trees

Blind on the crystal sea Be silent and see the moorings free In the heat of June Lean sceners and chicks at half past noon The morning comes Last morning to come for all and one All and two Lies idle and calls him back to you Oh, don't think all eyes see Oh, first to live and last to be Drop everything and go Hours pass and soon we might not know Where to cross again Black river to hem the spirits in By the mountain's will And as the forest moves in for the kill, The birds won't call Gold-plated and perched upon the wall Ah, don't think all eyes see Oh, first to live and last to be Some dream of changing time Live by the line and die beneath the blinds And the snow outside Falls even so no one steps aside Where the prophets go, All the boys and girls shuffle in the snow That fell all day Sky's burning to melt the day away Oh, don't think all eyes see Oh, first to live and last to be

That ugly race in time and space, She let the water touch her face And never came around to live again She brought you to her gypsy queen Who looked you over and licked you clean And sent you back across the sea again No no no, no no, not again He crawled across the kitchen floor And never thought to ask for more And never thought to stop and look around He beat his brain, a quick release And shook like there would be no peace And shook like he had never felt the ground No no no, no no, not again She held her little atmosphere, And later on, she left you here, And later on, she pounded on his door She held her breath and twirled her hair He scowled in the evening air, He scowled but he never asked for more No no no, never asked for more He hid away a loaded gun And asked her what she did for fun And waited for the morning to return Then in the quiet light of day, He blew her pretty face away, A savage crack that every neighbor heard. No no no, no no, not again

She called me easy I felt my little darlin' gettin' sleazy But the air was warm an' breezy And she looked so fine A perfect stranger I knew right away I couldn't change her But the old brown sailor told me danger Was just a thing of my mind She took me by the ear And for all the world to hear I couldn't help but make a little noise The streetlight blown out, I think she knew my brain was kinda zoned out So we went to the bank to take a loan out And she started to scream To help her, oh to tease her I really didn't know if I could please her But the teller at the union told me seize her Before she blows the scene Well she took me by the hand And she whispered this command: "Say something before I die" Well what choice did I have? Alright! I'm a-wonderin' on my doorstep 'Bout the little lady always tryna force it But I gave up the halter for a corset And sat and watched her go Now I'm lying in the courtyard Pretending that the sailor hit me so hard When a red-headed honey from the outdoor bar Came and said hello I smiled real wide, Convinced her I was worth the ride, Now I'm running up the stairs again. Once again, oh yeah!

In our time We came to roam We came to calling others home In our way We lasted years Lasted weekends, all unclear Breathe the ocean Breathe the air Breathe your bother and breathe your care Sit in silence, Sit and scream It don't have to mean a thing Live or die Give or take Oh the smoke rings in our wake Oh the days Oh the nights Come all fallen to our side
